A Checklist for Thanksgiving Shopping in Bend
Thanksgiving season is here and we’re already planning up the perfect menu. Whether this is your first time hosting this year, or you are a seasoned veteran, we decided to put together a meal plan featuring some of our favorite Thanksgiving recipes, as well as a shipping list for all of the ingredients you’ll need to make them. Simply print it out and bring it into Food4Less or Trader Joe’s so you can finish your Thanksgiving shopping in Bend.
Your Menu and Shopping List to Complete Your Thanksgiving Shopping in Bend:
Ina Garten’s Perfect Roast Turkey
- 1/4 lb. (1 stick) unsalted butter
- 1 lemon
- 1 tsp. chopped fresh thyme
- 1 fresh turkey (10-12 pounds)
- Kosher salt
- Ground black pepper
- 1 bunch fresh thyme
- 1 lemon, halved
- 1 Spanish onion, quartered
- 1 head garlic, halved
Traditional Thanksgiving Stuffing
- 3/4 cup (1 1/2 sticks) unsalted butter
- 1 lb. good-quality day-old white bread, torn into 1″ pieces
- 2 1/2 cups chopped yellow onions
- 1 1/2 cups celery, sliced
- 1/2 cup chopped parsley
- 2 tbsp. chopped sage
- 1 tbsp. chopped rosemary
- 1 tbsp. chopped thyme
- 2 tsp. kosher salt
- 1 tsp. ground black pepper
- 2 1/2 cups low-sodium chicken broth, divided
- 2 large eggs
Julia Child’s Mashed Potatoes
- 30 cloves garlic, unpeeled
- 8 tbsp. unsalted butter
- 2 tbsp. flour
- 1 cup whole milk
- 2 1⁄2 lb. russet potatoes, peeled and cut into 1″ pieces
- Kosher salt and freshly ground white pepper, to taste
- 1⁄4 cup heavy whipping cream
- 1⁄4 cup minced parsley
Betty Crocker’s Candied Sweet Potatoes
- 6 medium yams (2 lbs.)
- 1/3 cup packed brown sugar
- 3 tbsp. butter
- 3 tbsp. water
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Martha Stewart’s Green Bean Casserole
- Safflower oil, for frying
- 1 shallot, peeled and thinly sliced
- 1/4 cup unbleached all-purpose flour
- Kosher salt and freshly ground pepper
- 1 1/2 lbs. green beans
- 12 slices bacon, cut in 1/4-inch pieces
- 2 tbsp. unsalted butter
- 1 medium onion, cut into 1/4-inch dice
- 8 oz. cremini mushrooms, sliced
- 3 cups milk, room temperature
- 1 tsp. Dijon mustard
- 1/8 tsp. cayenne pepper
- 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
Roasted Pumpkin Pie
- 1 1⁄2 cups flour
- 7 tbsp. unsalted butter, cubed and chilled
- 1 tsp. kosher salt
- 2 cups roasted pumpkin, puréed
- 1 1⁄2 cups evaporated milk
- 1⁄2 cup light brown sugar
- 1 tbsp. cornstarch
- 2 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 2 tsp. ground ginger
- 1⁄2 tsp. grated nutmeg
- 2 eggs
