Your Ultimate Guide to Fun Fall Activities in Central Oregon

Posted by Cascade Village

Fall in Central Oregon is a brief but beautiful time! After a particularly warm and smoky summer, we’re all looking forward to enjoying the season before we head back indoors for the winter. Luckily, there are endless opportunities to take advantage of the cool temperatures and amazing scenery. So, we decided to pull out a few gems. Here are four local fun fall activities in Central Oregon that will leave you feeling all the cozy and fall vibes.

Hit up one of the many fall festivals

Fall festivals are a great way to get outside and enjoy some fun fall activities with the family. And in Central Oregon, there are no shortages of festivals to attend.

The Bend Fall Festival is a great chance to enjoy an outdoor market filled with local businesses, artist vendors, kid-friendly activities, and a wide variety of delicious food.

For a more traditional fall festival feel, head on over to the October Festival at Smith Rock Ranch. They’ve got everything: a pumpkin patch, corn maze, pony rides, and tons of other activities! You’re practically guaranteed to have a great time.

Enjoy a spirited tour of Central Oregon’s breweries and distilleries

You can’t throw a rock without hitting a brewery in Central Oregon. There are endless opportunities to try out new drinks, including seasonal fall flavors, whether it’s beer, cider, wine, or kombucha. Of course, one of the best ways to partake in Oregon’s love of craft drinks is to try your hand at the Bend Ale Trail.

The app-based tour will take you all around Central Oregon, stopping in on several different distilleries, and picking up prizes as you complete the tour. November is the best time to partake, as extra prizes are available for those who finish the tour within the month.

If you’re a fan of craft booze, this is the activity for you—just don’t forget to enjoy responsibly.

Head outside and take in the scenery

If you’re hoping to avoid the crowds, but you still want to get outdoors with friends or family, a guided tour might be for you. Wanderlust Tours have a variety of different fall tours, including the moonlight and starlight kayak tour.

Want to explore on your own? You can marvel at the leaves changing throughout different national, state, or local parks in Central Oregon. This reference list from Deschutes Land Trust gives you options for hikes, biking trails, pretty drives, and even places for a picnic.

Need to pick up some hiking shoes or a new tire for your bike before you head outdoors? Stop by Dicks Sporting Goods to stock up on outdoor essentials.

Stay inside and enjoy a Trader Joe’s fall feast

For some of us, fall is the optimal time for cozy indoor activities like movie marathons or read-a-thons.

One way to make your time indoors even cozier is to include some tasty fall snacks! Lucky for us all, Trader Joe’s has launched their fall seasonal items, and they look more delicious than ever. We highly recommend the Maple and Sea Salt Kettle Corn or a slice of toasted Pumpkin Brioche Twist.
